certifiedService Title: Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)
Duration: Dependant on the number of appliances
Fee: £100 to test up to 40 appliances then £2 per appliance

Description:
Electrical appliances start of perfectly safe, however with use they can deteriorate to an extent where there is a risk of electric shock or even fire. Just as a car needs an MOT to ensure it is safe to drive, electrical appliances need to be PAT Tested to ensure they continue to be safe to use.

Increasingly, insurance companies are stipulating Portable Appliance Testing as a condition of insurance on business policies. If there was a fire and the management of a company cannot show that regular PAT Testing had been carried out then this may affect a settlement figure.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 2003 & the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 all require that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition to protect employees from danger. This also includes self-employed individuals e.g. DJs & Hair Dressers

  • Earth Bond Test (if Class I and 3 core leads)
